Every Nepalese must be in deep mourning right now. Former prime minister and the last of the country’s veteran leaders who founded Nepali congress, died at the age of 87. Also popular as a Kishunji, Bhattrai played an important role in drafting the constitution of Nepal. At the same time, Diamond Shamsher Rana also died of Kidney failure at the age of 93. He was one of the very few among the privileged Ranas who chose to be a dissenter once he realized their oppressive ways. He rebelled against them and joined the revolution to bring democracy in Nepal. “Basanti”, “Seto Bagh” including others are some of his incredible novel. Diamond’s death was in shadow by the Bhattrai’s death.
Krishna Prasad Bhattrai’s death caused a major outbreak of public grief and sympathy throughout the Nepal. Bhattrai’s death is the head news on Radio Station, Television channels, news papers and web magazine. Large amount of media attention is pointed to write the praiseworthy words for Bhattrai. The story of Bhattrai are being published in newspapers, mentioned on talk shows and found in magazines.
It is very surprising to discover how this media message introduced to the public. This shows how powerfully the media can affect people. Values play an important role in the way that the media presents their information. Media influences the people actions because media has become a huge part of our lives. But Krishna Prasad Bhattrai was treated unfairly in the past not only by his party but even by the media. There were not any words and spaces for Bhattrai’s thoughts and logic in media when he was alive but after his death every media is not exhausted appreciating him. This is a bit peculiar system of Nepal.
What’s your view; let’s talk about it.
