It is indeed true isn’t it when they say that music is a ‘Universal Language’. To each his own… no matter what kind or genre you prefer listening to. Right from the Beatles to Narayan Gopal to Sugam Pokhrel…you name it and they all soothe our souls. There’s a song for every occasion, for every mood, for every situation, for everybody and of course some really good ones that haunt our memories long after the last note has been played.
Similarly, besides hip hop, pop and other genres that are very popular; especially amongst the youth these days; House, Trance, Club etc including ‘DJ Music’ seems to be gathering quite a lot of steam lately. DJ Raju, DJ Santosh, DJ Alex, DJ Kranti, DJ Payal, DJ B Man, DJ Ankit and a host of others seem to be in the headlines on a regular basis.
But there has been quite a lot of debate in recent times concerning the current crop of DJs. Who exactly can be referred to as a ‘DJ’ is the question. Is one eligible if he/she is capable of churning out a few tunes on a personal computer? (these days you could do wonders with all the soft wares available). Or is having acquired specific knowledge on the spin table and it’s intricate details considered to be one. There have been questions regarding this from all quarters which should make for an entertaining discussion. LETS TALK ABOUT IT!
