My Childhood
I was born in 14th April, 1977 in Byasi, Bhaktapur. I was born as the eldest daughter to my father Krishna Bdr Rajchal and My mother Purna Kesari Rajchal and altogether we are three sisters and one brother in the family. I started
my schooling from Prabhat English Boarding School, Bhaktapur and completed my 6-10 from Sharda Secondary School, Bhaktapur. I used to participate in musical programs since class four. My father was very much interested in Harmonium, so, all of us had a harmonium course in our house from my teacher, Hari Prasad Bati. I did my +2 and bachelors from Lalit kala campus. I did my second Bachelor from Rabindra Bharati University, kolkata. After the completion of my Bachelor I again came back Katmandu and did my Masters from Lalit Kala Campus again. It was only when I entered college that I played Sitar. I even completed diploma in Vocal from Pragya Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. While I was in India, I got a chance to sing in orchestra group in the birthday of Rabindra Nath Tagore. When I was Kid, I was very aggressive and very playful. Once when I was small I got a chance to sing in a program, it was the biggest program of my life. I practiced very hard for it day and night but when I entered the stage, I became so afraid seeing the huge mass that I wasn’t able to sing except of crying. I used to sing bhajans from my early childhood so whenever, I was called to sing bhajans, I used to cook food very early and then go to sing bhajans. My mother used to scold me for making food very early. If my bhajan singing schedule was 4 pm than I used to cook food by 1 or 2 pm, so my mother used to scold me.
Entry into Music
As I said earlier, I used to sing bhajans from my early childhood. Though I used to play Sitars and do many programs both in Nepal and India, it was on 2004 that I did my first recording. And in the year 2005, I released my first album “The Tradition”. And now in 2012 I came up with my second album “Talking Strings”. Even in between the release of first and second album I was busy in programs. I have done many programs in Nepaljung, Pune, Charkhand, Najpur, Kolkata and other cities of both Nepal and India.
