I woke up at 9 today like yesterday because it’s a second day of the three day Bandha called by Maoist. What a relaxing day it was yesterday at home playing some computer games and watching movies, forgetting how the work is piling up. Sometimes it’s good to have such breaks! The good thing about bandha is that you don’t hear noises and the honking horns in the streets. And the air is comparatively clean. I would generally wake up at 7 in the morning but it’s nice that I got 2 hours of extra sleep because of this bandha. Well today I’m not going to spend my time just sitting back and having fun at home, rather I would do something that might be interesting for our visitors. Let’s find out how our industry is dealing with this Bandha! Let’s hear what our media personalities is doing right now and what they have to say about the Bandha!
Bhusan Dahal (MD, Kantipur Television):-
I’m on the way to my office, taking a walk. Talking about Bandha, they should close down Nepal permanently. Why don’t they go for that? We can even deal with it. Public has gone through a lot. We don’t need politics and we don’t need anything, we can make our way through. What do I say about politics? As you know our politicians have more brains and they should utilize it more this way! You know what I mean? That’s all they can do.
Prabhat Rimal (Station Manager, Radio Kantipur):-
I won’t be having much of a problem to reach my office as we are considered to be press. But the general public is the

one who suffers most. Why don’t they find the alternative to this
Bandha? It’s paralyzing the whole nation. If they want to paralyze the government then go and close down the Singha Durbar, where the country is run from, rather than closing down the streets.
Bharat Shakya (Station Manager, Image FM):-
Well I was jus wondering whether to walk to my office or stay home before you called. In a bandha, we all get tired of walking all the way to office from our homes and we won’t be in a right mood to work and that effect the creativity of a person. It would be like formally present in the office that’s it. Bandha might be a political weapon for politicians but find a civilized way for the protests. Politicians should respect the public and should create problems for them in the name of Public superiority.
Now let’s hear it from our artists!
Nima Rumba:-
It’s bandha since yesterday and I spent the whole day checking emails and completing the unfinished songs. I had to attend meetings, had to go for practice for upcoming shows, had to go to studio for recording…..couldn’t do it because of the bandha. Every political party promise to respect public and that has only been in words. It’s us who gets affected directly. Everyone knows this affects the economy of our country. Actually no one has the right to close down the country! ‘Bandha Garna Paidaina!!’
Sugam Pokharel:-
I used to take my bike on the Bandha with my press pass but this morning my bike didn’t start so I took a walk. Bandha is not at all right. Solve your problems in the parliament why do you create problems for public?
Alok Nembang:-
The editing of my cinema was going on. The meeting got cancelled and all my shootings have also been stopped because of this!
Swroop Raj Acharya:-
I have recordings everyday. I had to go to the studio in Kamal Pokhari for music mixing of my album. Couldn’t make it!
Jharana Bajracharya:-
I didn’t have much to do so am just chilling out at home, relaxing! ;-)
Surendra Man Singh ( Karma):-
Couldn’t open TNT (his restaurant in Thamel) today. All the business gets hamper. The first rule in our constitution should be no one can call a bandha!
Sanup Poudel:-
I couldn’t go to school where I teach! Who would pay for this educational loss the students are going through?
Sandeep BK (Vocalist, Axix):-
We were supposed to compose a song for a movie. For that we had a meeting with the lyricist. Couldn’t make it to the meeting!
Sudip Giri:-
I had a meeting to attend about my upcoming show in Australia then had to meet my video editor to collect the video.
Dibya Subba:-
My recordings were going on and I had to go to Nardevi for the recordings.
Naren Limbu :-
I had to set up an office in Putalisadak.....couldn’t do it….
We jus saw above how the bandha has affected our lives. These are jus a few examples, there are millions of people similarly or probably much more affected. Don’t we have any alternative to Nepal Badha?
